Technical Information

The information on this page relates to our online recruitment system. For more general support, please visit the Site Assistance page.

Username & Password

  • The username must contain between 4 and 100 characters and it must not contain spaces.
  • The password must contain between 6 and 32 characters including one letter and one number. Please note that letters are case-sensitive.  It must not contain more than 2 identical consecutive characters and it must not contain your username.  The following symbols may be used within the password:
    ! # $ % & ( ) * + , - . / : ; < = > ?@ [ \ ] _ ` { | } ~
  • If you have forgotten your password, click on the “Forgot your password?” link on the login page. You will be prompted to enter your User Name and Email Address. You will be sent an email that will contain a regenerated password. Click on the link in the email and enter the access code provided. You will then be prompted to create a new password.

    University Staff can login using their username and password.

Attachments

  • The following file formats are accepted for attachments:
    1. Word (.doc/.docx)
    2. Word Perfect (.wpd)
    3. Excel (.xls/.xlsx)
    4. Rich Text Format (.rtf)
    5. Portable Document Format (.pdf)
    You have a total of 10 files across all your applications, and each file must not exceed 1.5 Mb.

    If you would like to send any other files as part of your application, please contact the department to discuss whether it is appropriate to send as an email attachment or by mail, or an alternative arrangement.  In your covering letter, please list any additional files sent to us as part of your application.

Emails

  • When we communicate through the Taleo recruitment system, all emails generated will be from universityofotago@invalidemail.com.  This domain is registered by the Taleo Corporation.  These are genuine communications from the University of Otago.  Replying to this email will not reach us. Instead, please use the contact details provided in the content of the emails. If you are expecting an email from us and don’t receive it, then you should check your Junk or Spam email folders.

iPads, iPhones and Other Mobile Devices

You may be able to apply for a position using mobile devices such as iPads and iPhones, however our testing on these has been limited. Whilst it is possible to complete an application using an iPad (2), documents cannot be easily uploaded to your profile. Other devices have not been tested. We welcome your feedback, but recommend using one of the platforms noted above.
