Student Exchange and Study Abroad

Students leaving the airport

Thinking of coming to Otago for one or two semesters as part of your degree at another university? There are two ways you could do this...

Student Exchange

Students from partner universities can attend Otago for either one or two semesters on exchange, pay no tuition fees to Otago and credit the work they complete at Otago back to their home university. This is made possible under an agreement which has been signed by your home university and the University of Otago.

To find out if your university has an exchange agreement with us, check our list of current Otago Exchange Partners.

If your university has an exchange agreement with us, your first point of contact should be the Exchange Office at your home university. So if you have not yet done so, please contact your home university for information about coming to Otago as an exchange student.

You can also peruse our Exchange web page for further information.

If your home university is not on this list then you are not eligible for exchange but can come to the University of Otago as an international Study Abroad student.

Study Abroad

A Study Abroad student can enrol for one or two semesters at Otago independently, or as part of a programme organised by their home university or a Study Abroad sending institution.
