Pay your tuition fees and insurance
See below for how to pay and how to obtain a receipt. Add the cost of the insurance premium to the fees stated on your Offer letter.

Apply for your student visa now
Arrange your student visa before you leave home. You must have a current student visa for the University of Otago in order to complete your enrolment and gain access to University services and facilities. It is important that your visa states that you are studying on the University of Otago Wellington campus. In support of your visa application you will need to include your Offer of Place and tuition fees receipt (or proof of exemption from paying fees) along with other required documents. Book your accommodation
You need to book some form of accommodation (temporary or otherwise) for when you arrive. Visit http://www.otago.ac.nz/wellington/study/students/otago018202.html to begin exploring your accommodation options.
Book your travel:
PhD candidates: Be sure to advise your supervisor and the International Office of your arrival date.
Postgraduate students: Please check the website for semester start dates.
Plan to depart Wellington AFTER the conclusion of the examination period.

Check in at Reception

Make contact with your supervisor / department
Reception staff will guide you to your supervisor or department for orientation.
Complete your Enrolment

Payment must be made in New Zealand dollars by one of the following methods:
- Telegraphic Transfer (from within or outside New Zealand)
- Internet banking (from within New Zealand)

HOW TO OBTAIN A RECEIPT
You will need a receipt for your visa application. Contact the Student Finance Office:

Include the following details: your name, student ID (if known), amount sent, date sent, date receipt required, remitting bank, further information (such as name of sender if not you), where you would like the receipt sent (fax number, email address).
Note: The remitting bank should quote the student’s name, NOT the name of the person arranging the transfer, so the incoming payment can be identified.
An extra NZ$25 should be allowed to cover the New Zealand banking system charges for telegraphic transfers which are extra to the charges of the bank where the transfer was initiated. For your protection, it is important to retain a copy of the transaction provided by the remitting bank.
