Statistics

Below are links for statistics on New Zealand injury.

1. National Injury Query System (NIQS)

To generate statistics on a particular issue see our National Injury Query System (NIQS).
NIQS allows you to choose the injury mechanism(s), intent(s), year(s), age group(s) or Local Authority / District Health Board(s) of interest to you and produce statistics on the numbers and rates of cases.

2. Customised Enquiries Service

The IPRU offers a free community service, funded by the Ministry of Health, to provide more detailed injury statistics. If you can't find the information you require by using the NIQS system, email StatsEnquiry@ipru.otago.ac.nz.
IPRU will endeavour to respond to enquiries within five working days. If the matter is urgent, it may be possible to reply sooner. We are able to allocate up to six hours of processing time to individual queries, for a total of thirty hours per organisation per year. Any requests likely to take longer than this are currently beyond the scope of this service.

3. Fact Sheets and Reports

You can access the list of IPRU's fact sheets of which the most recent editions are available as pdf files. You can also download recent IPRU reports as PDFs.

4. Statistics NZ Injury Information Portal
