An email account is created for all University usernames.

For ”external” usernames (e.g. contractor, consultant, RSL visitor, Clinical Lecturer), the email address is of the format username@otago.ac.nz (e.g. bonja007@otago.ac.nz).

Use this form to request the creation of a personalised email address for someone who has an external username. The address format will usually be known-name.last-name@otago.ac.nz (e.g. jan.bond@otago.ac.nz). In cases of duplication we will contact you to arrange a suitable alternative.

Please contact AskOtago directly if you are a staff member or student and are having problems with your email.

Separate forms are available for the creation of shared mailbox and postgraduate student email addresses (please note that you will be prompted to log in with your University username and password which will populate the form with your contact details.

A University username is required before an email address can be set up. Please contact AskOtago if you do not have a University username or are not sure what it is. Those who are not staff or students will need to apply for a username via the External Username/ID Card/Library Access form.
