Videoconferencing
The University of Otago has a reputation for delivering high quality
videoconferencing that enhances the teaching and learning offered to
off campus students.
Videoconferences are also used to reduce the cost of travel for
administrative meetings, interviews and oral exams.
Staff and students in the four main centres use the dedicated videoconference
rooms in Dunedin, Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch School of Medicinel
Campuses, and the Wellington Stadium Campus.
Videoconferences provide a fully interactive communication experience
that offers the added bonus of immediacy. Up to four videoconference
centres can be used at any one time, but one of these must be the Dunedin
room.
The Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) can be used to
call other sites outside the University wide area network, but there
are
extra
charges
for this.
Lecture Theatres and seminar rooms in some buildings with upgraded network
connections can be used, but extra set up charges apply.
