The University of Otago Legal Issues Centre was established at the Faculty in 2007 through a gift from the Gama Foundation and the University of Otago Foundation Trust.  It's purpose is to carry out research on legal issues relating to how a more accessible, affordable and efficient legal system can be created for the benefit of all citizens and to carry out research on how courts can best ascertain the truth and arrive at a fair and just outcome.  The Director of the Centre will hold the Chair of Legal Issues and will teach in areas related to the work of the centre.
