Undergraduate programmes in law

There are two undergraduate law programmes at Otago: Bachelor of Laws (LLB) and Bachelor of Laws with Honours (LLB (Hons)).

Bachelor of Laws (LLB)

Otago’s Bachelor of Laws (LLB) is a four-year professional degree, which provides you with an excellent grounding in legal thinking, analytical skills, negotiation and decision-making.

Bachelor of Laws with Honours (LLB(Hons))

Otago’s Bachelor of Laws with Honours (LLB(Hons)) is also a four-year professional degree, involving the same papers as the LLB. However, you also complete additional course work and attend honours seminars. Entry to the LLB (Hons) degree is most commonly by invitation at the conclusion of your second year, but you can also apply later in the degree.
