Cabinet 13: Other Rail Systems

Boletim da C.P [Caminhos de Ferro Portugueses], Vol. 19, No. 211-212, January to December 1947.

Boletim da C.P [Caminhos de Ferro Portugueses], Vol. 19, No. 211-212, January to December 1947.

This attractive ‘signal’ cover advertises well these issues of the Bulletin produced by CP (Caminhos de Ferro Portugueses), who ran the Portuguese rail system until the new configuration Comboios de Portugal, EPE took over. The Lisbon to Carregado line was the first operating in the country, opened on 28 October 1856. The content in these bulletins range from picturesque travel destinations in Portugal, and information on the Portuguese Railway soccer team, to the usual organisational articles (including photographs of key personnel) and strangely enough, an article on prehistoric animals, including coverage of moa in New Zealand.
