When Dr Maslen retired in 1991, his replacement in the English Department was Dr Shef Rogers, who took over the Methods and Techniques paper. He and his students continue to use the Bibliography Room, producing hand-set printing exercises. Perhaps because students will always be students, there is a sense of joyous anarchy in some of the results. They range from the amusing ‘Lest we forget’ with favourite characters, pet peeves and ambitions listed to the oppressed ‘Students of Purgatory 468’ with their A Theory Tale – in this instance a badly inked copy off the Columbian Press, where evenness of impression is hard to achieve.
A Theory Tale, or Fragments Ensured to Haste our Ruin… Dunedin: O(TAGO)PPRESS [Bibliography Room], University of Otago, 1994
