Sarah Quigley – 2003

The Thaw Typescript

Sarah Quigley's doctoral thesis from the University of Oxford was on the life and works of Charles Brasch. When she arrived in Dunedin as Burns Fellow for 2003, she made the Hocken Library her home. The thirty-year embargo on Brasch's papers and diaries was lifted in May 2003, and Quigley was one of the first to view them. Much of her six month tenure was spent researching these documents towards a full-scale biography. Quigley also wrote poetry. Dunedin's October chill prompted this piece, which she has only recently re-vamped.
