An Exact Discovery of the Mystery of Iniquity

An Exact Discovery of the Mystery of Iniquity

This 15 page treatise on the Jesuits and their 'antichristian and devilish policy' is one of earliest examples of Irish printing in Special Collections. Officially licensed by Roger L'Estrange (1616-1704), the English royalist and chief licenser, this work has been attributed to the king's printers Benjamin Tooke and Andrew Crook. Originally appearing in Italian and in 1617, this particular issue was compiled by Titus Oates (1649-1705), the 17th century scandalmonger, who was the chief architect of the Popish Plots.
