Cabinet 18: Poetry

Love Respelt.

Robert Graves, Love Respelt. London: Cassell, 1965.

Thirty-three poems in holograph form Love Respelt, a celebratory edition published for Graves’s 70th birthday, on 24 July 1965.

Each poem, like ‘Batxoca’, is about the relationship Graves had with his new Muse, Aemilia Laraçuen (otherwise known as Cindy Lee). Laraçuen also illustrated the dust-jacket.

Other editions on this particular theme included Seventeen Poems Missing from Love Respelt (1966), Colophon to Love Respelt (1967), and Love Respelt Again (1969).

This signed London edition, no. 19 of 250 copies, differs slightly in content from the Doubleday edition.
