Ka Taoka Hakena
On 2nd September 1907, a Deed of Trust was signed to formalize Dr Hocken’s gift of his collection to the Dominion. Ka Taoka Hakena. Treasures from the Hocken Collections was published in 2007 to celebrate the centenary of the signing. Designed by Jenny Cooper, and with photographs by Bill Nichol, this book documents almost 200 ‘treasures’ that are in the present day Hocken Collections at the University of Otago. It has received many complimentary reviews and, impressively for a high-quality hardback, 1250 copies were printed.
