Pickerill

Even though production time may now be reduced, with pdf proofs able to be emailed, images supplied as tiffs or jpegs, and printing occurring at the push of a button, the preparation of a text itself can still take years. As Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry and Editor of the New Zealand Dental Journal, Dr Harvey Brown knew of Henry P. Pickerill's ground-breaking work as a plastic surgeon, especially on facial and jaw construction. Retirement in 1993 meant that Brown could get time to work on the biography - the first on Pickerill. Travel in 2004 consolidated his research, and the manuscript went to the Press in 2006. In 2007, thirteen OUP publications (as well as 5 reprints) 'rolled off' the press in New Zealand and Hong Kong. Dr Brown's Pickerill was one of them.
