Borrowing

Membership of the Robertson Library is available free of charge to students and staff of the Otago Polytechnic and University of Otago.

Library card

Your current Otago Polytechnic student or staff ID acts as your Library card. When you get a new ID card, please get the barcode on the card activated at the Library (Mon-Fri, 8:30am-6pm).

Library notices are sent to your Polytech email address. Notices include Request pick-ups, changes in due date, and due date reminders.

If you wish to renew items from the Course Reserve, please ask at the Lending service desk.

Borrowing from the University of Otago collections

Otago Polytechnic students & staff can also borrow books from the University of Otago Library collections. Use Library Search | Ketu to place a request on items and collect them from the Robertson Library.

Library fines & charges

Once your library fines reach the assigned limit, your record is blocked until all fines are paid.

Avoid Library fines and charges by renewing items before the due date.

Lost books

A replacement charge and an administration fee will be charged for lost books. The administration fee ($25.00) will still apply for returned lost/missing books.

Paying Library fines and charges

Fines can be paid by eftpos at the Robertson Library, by cheque or internet banking.

Paying fines by internet banking:

  1. In the Reference/Customer field - Surname/family name first.
  2. In the Code field - your Username (eg. brownhj1)
  3. In the Particulars or Account filed - type "LIBRARY FINE"
  4. Email lending.central@otago.ac.nz to confirm you have payed online.

Paying fines by cheque:

  1. Make your cheque out to: University of Otago
  2. Include your Username (on your staff or student ID) with the cheque
  3. Send the cheque to:
