As the workshop technician one of my main tasks is to ensure the 24 hour supply of seawater. I also maintain a mechanical workshop where I design and build equipment for students as well as performing maintenance on laboratory and field equipment.

My outside interests tend to centre around kayaking which allows me to do various multi-sport events like the Coast-to-Coast and Gold Rush. Holidays are often spent sea kayaking in more remote areas of New Zealand. I also enjoy cycle touring both on and off road which have included New Zealand, Scotland and Tasmania.

I think I'm still a wind surfer although my board hasn't been wet for a while. Of course I can't not mention fishing at lunch time off the wharf with Caroline.
