Library
Location: Second floor
Portobello Marine Laboratory
The library holds Marine Science journals (principally marine biological and ecological) and a wide selection of books. Most of the stock is on long-term loan from the Science Library. Book classification follows the Library of Congress system. Periodicals are shelved alphabetically by title. All library items that are borrowed, whether taken off site or held elsewhere in the Laboratory, must be recorded, there is a book for signing out borrowed items. We receive many interloan requests from the main Science Library and much time can be wasted in looking for misplaced and unrecorded items. Library loans and returns are processed by the Library Assistant, Maureen Hurrell, however requests for items should be made through the Science Library. Inquiries concerning the library and acquisition recommendations should be referred to the Departmental Library Liaison Officer, Assoc. Prof. Keith Probert.
