MARI 429 Coastal Marine Environment

Course Content:

This interdisciplinary paper explores  practical and topical issues in coastal environments, particularly in the Otago and New Zealand regions.
Topics covered could include :

  • Seawall construction and impacts
  • Environmental impact of dredging and dredge spoil disposal
  • Introduced macroalgae
  • Coastal hazard mapping and sea-level rise
  • Marine protection

Prerequisites:

MARI 419 or equivalent

Corequisites:

Assessment:

Three pieces of work, internally assessed 100%

There is no final examination in this course

Reading List:

Readings from the primary literature will be assigned
