Category: Invertebrate
Phylum: Arthropoda
Class: Crustacea
Family: Peracarida

Notes
Like all amphipods they are flattened side to side. Usually found in detritus on most shores. As scavengers, they are responsible for breaking down and recycling nutrients from dead material, especially seaweeds. They are very good jumpers and can jump several times their own length.
