Notes A conical brown shell with numerous brown spiral lines that show through on the lip of the dark brown aperture. It is often eroded or encrusted and is larger than the Blue-banded periwinkle.
Abundant on rocky shores at or above the high intertidal zone. More common in exposed locations and in the south.
Grazes on thin films of seaweed and lichen.
