The mass communication and news media cluster explores the production and reception processes of mass media, and the impact the news media have on public and audience formation, and social order.

We investigate the economic basis of mass communication industries, media policy regulations, and the influence the news media have in political communication.

Students will be able to learn writing and production skills across a range of news media and also be able to interrogate the sense-making practices of contemporary journalism.
