Contemporary Performance & Professional Practice Auditions

Audition dates

Auditions will be held in Dunedin on the 29th and 30th September and the 20th October, 2012 for entry to Semester 1, 2013 and in late June/early July 2012 for entry to Semester 2, 2012.

Applicants should bring a passport photograph of themselves to their auditions.

DVD Auditions for those note able to attend in person

Applicants who are unable to attend auditions in Dunedin at the specified times will be required to send a high quality DVD for consideration.

It is in your best interest that your audition DVD is of the highest quality. PAL/NTSC is preferred. At the beginning of the DVD please introduce yourself in English and speak briefly about your audition programme.

In addition to the DVD audition you are welcome to send additional material-CD, cassette or video of live performances, studio or home recordings, lyric sheets, bios or reviews.

Make sure you clearly state what role you played in these performances (which instrument you played, whether or not you wrote or co-wrote any of the material).

Do not send original copies.

Theory and Knowledge Test paper for those not able to attend in person

If you choose to do your audition by video we will also send you a theory and general knowledge test paper. Please complete this conscientiously.

You do not have to pass this test to be admitted on to the course!!

The purpose of it is to allow us to gauge your present theory knowledge. If your theory knowledge is weak we recommend that you take MUSI 191 (Introduction to Music), a first-semester paper designed to get your music theory up to a sufficient level.

We may also wish to conduct a brief telephone interview.
