DESI 411: Digital Media Design

A seminar- and practical-based paper that looks in detail at design issues when working with digital media.

Objectives

  • Develop understanding and skills in the areas of multimedia interface design, digital sound and video, and multimedia authoring.
  • Develop a framework for understanding the theory and technology of multimedia systems and their application to real world problems.
  • Examine the difference between linear and non-linear interactive content.
  • Learn how to work within an interdisciplinary group; to plan and manage a multimedia project and test a prototype.
  • Challenge the prevailing assumptions and attitudes that underlie the design of much of the work currently being produced by the multimedia industry.
