This is considered a vital part of the overall functioning of the National Addiction Centre (NAC) and considerable emphasis is given to active liaison with the addiction treatment field in New Zealand, both informally and formally.

Regular progress reports of NAC activities are made available to the New Zealand addiction treatment field through a variety of means. These include, in addition to this website, a regular section in the Addiction Treatment Research News, the official newsletter of the Addiction Treatment Research Interest Group (ATRIG), a grassroots organisation initiated by NAC, and at the annual treatment conference (Cutting Edge).

This document aims to provide an overview of key information for the national addiction treatment sector of Aotearoa New Zealand and briefly covers a wide range of relevant topics and issues.
The Addiction Treatment Interest Group aims to facilitate discussion surrounding the conducting and dissemination of research treatment in the alcohol, drugs and addiction field.
The John Dobson Memorial Foundation has as its goal to perpetuate the values, energy and personal qualities the late Dr John Dobson brought to bear in the care and treatment of people with drug and alcohol and broader mental health problems and to the public advocacy of their plight.
