Species Interactions: you are HOW you eat
Professor Armand Kuris
University of California, Santa Barbara
William Evans fellow, Department of Zoology
At least half the species on planet Earth are infectious, parasites living on or in a host. They include a remarkable diversity of life forms including viruses, protozoans, worms, insects and other types of organisms. A deeper understanding of their biology will enrich our knowledge of how the world works, and can also benefit human health, agriculture and fisheries. Parasites have the advantage of a nearly perfect food source but they suffer the unique challenge that their habitat, the host, is inherently hostile, hard to locate and trying to kill them.
