This love story plays against the backdrop of the socio-political history of the DDR in the years that immediately preceded and followed the construction of the Berlin Wall. The film follows the interior and external “movements” of the main figures with a sober and yet fragmentary style intended to capture the contradictions that plague the characters and the socialist world in which they live. The film, shot in the early Sixties in the GDR, bears some of the experimental features that marked the new waves of this period in Europe (Eastern Europe too) and beyond.
