The New Zealand Paediatric Surveillance Unit monitors the eradication of polio and researches rare conditions in children

The New Zealand Paediatric Surveillance Unit (NZPSU) undertakes surveillance of acute flaccid paralysis for the Ministry of Health's National Certification Committee for the Eradication of Poliomyelitis. It also conducts studies and surveillance of other uncommon, but high impact conditions in children.

Poliomyelitis—commonly known as polio—is still a threat. Through its monitoring activities, the NZPSU contributes to the global quest to eradicate this disease.
