Papers in Performing Arts Studies
There are three special Performing Arts Studies papers, one each at 100-, 200- and 300-level. They are:
All other papers making up a degree in Performing Arts Studies are offered by a range of departments and programmes. Listed below are the papers that can be taken for Performing Arts Studies as a major or as a minor. Performing Arts Studies papers can also be taken separately as part of many degrees.
Performing Arts Studies as a Major subject
Students undertaking Performing Arts Studies majors must take a number of required papers but are also able to choose from a wide variety of papers from different disciples over their 3 years of study.

- Dance Studies
- Maori Studies (MAOR 308 Ngā Hākinakina a Te Māori only)

- 144 further points; these must include at least 36 points at 200-level or above.
- Up to 90 points may be taken from outside Arts.
The total points for a Bachelors degree is 360 points

Performing Arts Studies as a Minor subject
A Performing Arts Studies minor can accompany a
- Bachelor of Arts (BA)
- Bachelor of Theology (BTheol)
- Bachelor of Science (BSc) or a
- Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) degree.
Students taking Performing Arts Studies as a minor undertake a few core papers and then have the flexibility to choose a variety of papers from different disciplines.
100 level papers:
PERF101 Performing Arts Studies
200 level papers:
PERF201 Performing Arts Integrations
300 level papers:
54 points at 200-level or above from
- Maori Studies (MAOR 208 Ngā Manu Taki only)
- Theatre Studies
- Music or
- Dance Studies papers,
including at least 18 points at 300-level.
The total for a minor is 90 points.
