The Postgraduate Certificate in Pharmacy (PGCertPharm) is intended for students who have earned a Bachelor of Pharmacy (BPharm) degree, and wish to extend their knowledge by way of postgraduate study.
The PGCertPharm is available as either an endorsed or non-endorsed programme. The two endorsed options serve as introductions to advanced-level professional progammes.
These options are:
- Postgraduate Certificate in Pharmacy endorsed in Medicines Management (PGCertPharm MEMA)
- Postgraduate Certificate in Pharmacy endorsed in Social Pharmacy (PGCertPharm SOPH)
The non-endorsed PGCertPharm is an introduction to research via a research project in one of four areas:
- Clinical pharmacy
- Pharmaceutical sciences
- Social pharmacy
The non-endorsed PGCertPharm consists of a single research paper of six months' duration:
- PHCY 590 Dissertation (60 points)
Outcomes include an enhanced understanding of research methods, hands-on laboratory experience, and experience writing-up research.
Scholarships for PGCertPharm students
Graduates of the Otago or Auckland Schools of Pharmacy may be eligible to apply for one of four scholarships offered annually to PGCertPharm students. Please ask about these scholarships when making your initial enquiries about the PGCertPharm programme.
