Emily grew up in the UK and came to New Zealand in 1997. She studied philosophy at Otago, completing a BA(Hons) in 2003. She recently finished her Master's thesis on 'A Response-Dependent Theory of Explanation'. Emily is currently working on her PhD in ontological commitment. She also enjoys reading novels, drinking beer and trampolining, though not necessarily at the same time.

Emily's research interest's in philosophy include epistemology and theories of reference.
