She decided to undertake further studies after hearing about it from a colleague.

Adina was interested in the Sports Physiotherapy programme as it covered biomechanics, research, anatomy, injury prevention and clinical critical reasoning.

She explains "I really enjoyed being a part of the School of Physiotherapy as an undergraduate and wanted to return. Familiarity and paper selection were the reasons I continued my studies at the University of Otago School of Physiotherapy. The staff at the School of Physiotherapy made the journey both challenging and enjoyable.

There is not always a correct answer or method in Physiotherapy, and they dared us to think outside of the box with regards to examination and treatment. The clinical paper was the hardest in terms of knowledge and application of that knowledge, but the most rewarding. Postgraduate study has given me a vast range of knowledge and skills, from manipulation techniques to understanding the mechanisms of pain. This has aided in my diagnosis of injuries and selection of treatment techniques.

I have made some great friends from this course. It is a great place to bounce ideas and theories off each other.

If you want to become a better, more efficient Physiotherapist, postgraduate studies are the way to go.

After having gone away and worked for a few years, it is a great way to condense your knowledge and challenge your reasoning".

Adina Holder graduated from University of Otago's School of Physiotherapy in 2011 with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy (BPhty) and completed her Masters endorsed in Sports Physiotherapy in 2016.
