The Humanities Internship Practicum is a restricted-entry paper for undergraduate and postgraduate students. It provides students with the opportunity to apply their research and analytical skills while providing public goods and gaining real-world experience.

PPE students have interned at the Dunedin City Council, the Otago Regional Council, the Wise Response Society, and the National Science Challenge Healthier Lives. Their projects have covered a wide range of topics, including international dark skies certification, the mayors for peace project, water quality standards, collaboration for climate policy among New Zealand NGOs, the city bylaws process, pesticide policies, and public opinion on street art, among others.

The internship involves:

  • a substantive practicum

  • written work about the project

  • supervision by the Division of Humanities and the PPE Director
