Philosophy, Psychiatry and Psychology Interest Group
15th International Philosophy and Psychiartry Conference
5-7 July 2012
The PPP Group at Otago aims to provide a forum for discussion and analysis of conceptual and ethical issues in the area of mental health. It seeks to bring to bear upon these issues insights from the disciplines of Philosophy, Psychiatry and Psychology. It encourages the participation in this forum of other disciplines such as history, theology and law to provide further illumination and material.
What We Hope to Provide
We hope to put on monthly meetings at which one or more papers can be given and discussed.
We hope also to develop some one day meetings and possibly some larger events later.
We also plan to develop this website as a source of information for the local group and a means of access to the international networks in this area.
We are affiliated to the International Network for Philosophy and Psychiatry.
This provides a collaborative research and education forum to support organisations and individuals involved in conceptual and ethical work in psychiatry and related disciplines. INPP is a registered international charity (Charity Commission no. 1101747).
- To support educational, research, policy and service initiatives in mental health that are based on valuing individual and cultural differences and respecting diversity.
- To contribute to such initiatives through rigorous philosophical and cross-disciplinary work on the concepts guiding mental health practice.
- To facilitate collaborative learning through exchange of ideas, experience, knowledge and skills.
- To work with national, local and subject-based organisations with appropriate aims, in developing and strengthening their unique identities.
