Dan Bendrups

Dan Bendrups is Senior Lecturer in Music at the Queensland Conservatorium, Griffith University, Brisbane. Between 2005 and 2011 he was Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Music at the University of Otago. His research is located in the fields of Ethnomusicology and Popular Music Studies, with a particular focus on the music cultures of South America and the Pacific. As a trombonist, he has performed in a wide range of commercial and community music contexts internationally, especially in jazz and improvised music. Since 2011, Dr Bendrups has been involved in the development of the Australia Research Council project Sustainable Futures for Music Cultures at the Queensland Conservatorium Research Centre. He is currently chair of the Australia/New Zealand Regional Committee of the International Council for Traditional Music. He is co-editor of Dunedin Soundings (2011).
