Julie Evans

Julie Evans is a graduate of the University of Melbourne and is currently working as a research fellow at the university. Her research has focused on nineteenth-century British colonialism with a focus on the formation of the idea of race and the installation and the operation of the Rule of Law in colonial contexts.

Her publications include Edward Eyre, Race and Colonial Governance (Otago University Press, 2005) and Equal Subjects, Unequal Rights: Indigenous Peoples in British Settlements, 1830–1910, (Manchester University Press, 2003), with Patricia Grimshaw, David Philips and Shurlee Swain.
