Roger Maaka

Roger Maaka is a professor and head of the Department of Native Studies at the University of Saskatchewan, Canada. Previous to that he was the head of the Maori Studies Department at the University of Canterbury, New Zealand.

His research interests include social change in Maori and Western Canadian Aboriginal societies, urban Maori/Aboriginal communities and societies, and indigeneity as an international social phenomenon.

The Politics of Indigeneity: Challenging Indigenous the State in Canada and Aotearoa New Zealand is written with Augie Fleras (Otago University Press, 2005).
