Women's Studies Journal

Women's Studies JournalThe Women's Studies Journal focuses on scholarly research and debate concerning women's studies in New Zealand and the Pacific. In 2008, it became an online journal, available free from www.wsanz.org.nz. Back issues are available from Otago University Press.

It contains articles from a wide range of feminist positions and disciplinary backgrounds, and is essential reading for academics with an interest in gender issues. Articles in the journal have long been used as texts at tertiary institutions.

Some issues focus on a particular theme, while other issues are broad in scope. Theme issues include Matauranga Maori (Spring 2007), Women and Spirituality (Spring 2006), Gendered Violence, Ecofeminism, Globalisation/Development (Autumn 2006), Women and Violence (Spring 2005), as well as a twentieth birthday special (Autumn 2007).

The Women's Studies Journal was established in 1984. The last print issue of the journal was 21:2 in Spring 2007, Matauranga Maori.

Back issues of the Women’s Studies Journal are available from booksales@otago.ac.nz at a price of $15 including GST, plus $3.50 postage for individual copies.
