The Proctor's Office will assist with the response to any emergencies on Campus. The Office of Risk, Assurance and Compliance has overall responsibility for the emergency response from the University of Otago. Emergency situations cover a very wide field of possible events that include (but are not limited to):
- natural disasters such as flooding, earthquake or storms
- hazardous substance leaks or spills
- infrastructure failure of roads in and out of Dunedin
- criminal activity and unrest
Any of the above has the potential to make the ongoing business of the University of Otago problematic at best.
An Incident Management Team has been selected from across the University and they undergo constant training and simulated exercises.
