DipGrad

The DipGrad is proving to be an ideal way for Claire Gordon to gain the specialised study she needs to achieve her professional goals.

While she was studying for a Bachelor of Commerce, majoring in Accounting, Claire knew that she would need further tertiary study to become a chartered accountant.

"To meet the requirements of the New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants [NZICA] I needed to have more than a BCom and, while there are a number of options, the DipGrad was the most viable one for me.

"I have been able to extend my knowledge in some more specialised areas, such as tax and audit, and have taken a few extra accounting papers so that my DipGrad will be endorsed in Accounting."

After five years of study - the last year part-time - Claire will become a provisional member of the NZICA and plans to join the Audit New Zealand office in Wellington and further pursue her professional goals.

For Claire, the DipGrad has been a positive experience. It has enhanced her career prospects by helping her meet the requirements of the NZICA; it has enabled her to gain more focused and specialised knowledge in her areas of particular interest; and she has been able to complete the qualification while also studying for her bachelor's degree.
