Yacht Sailing - Lake Waihola

INTRODUCTION

sailing

This enjoyable experience will introduce you to sailing in the sheltered boat harbour of Lake Waihola, 30 minutes drive south of Dunedin.

This sailing experience is based on the Yachting New Zealand Level 1 National Sailing Scheme. It will include discussion on the basics of boat rigging, safety, and details of tacking and reaching. While basic theory will be covered, most of your time will be spent on the water sailing - you will be shown a dry sailing run before getting out there to have a go yourself! Depending on the sailing conditions on the day, choose from a variety of different boats that are available at the club.

You will get wet during this activity and it is a possibility for beginner sailers that your boat may capsize. For this reason, all participants must have a good level of confidence in the water.
