Let Recreation Services show you how and give you a helping hand!!!
This semester we are running three practical , health and fitness seminars to give you the information you need to make the mostof the time you spend at the gym. These practical sessions will give you the knowledge and hands on experience about gym equipmentand provide the information needed to undertake aerobic or resistance training.
“How to use the Gym Machines & Weights in a Workout”
It’s always scary walking into an unknown gym environment. How do you use the equipment?, What does each machine offer to your workout?, Which equipment is best for you to use?.
All of these questions and more will be covered in this seminar which aims to introduce the concept of a gym workout followed by a tour of the new Unipol facility and practical, hands on demonstrations of how specific equipment may be included in your own gym workout. Included in this seminar will be some simple nutritional strategies to compliment your workouts. There will be a focus on hydration, preparing for a workout and the importance of nutrition during recovery.

Aerobic Training and Nutrition
”skills to improve energy, focus and fitness levels"
Aerobic training is a key component of exercise and is important for everyday health and well-being. This seminar will discuss the benefits of a cardio workout including the changes the body undergoes and how you can modify your workout to reach specific goals. We will show you different methods you can use and give practical demonstrations on how to do these. This seminar will also provide information on hydration strategies for aerobic exercise as well as suggestions on what to eat before and after your workout.

Resistance Training and Nutrition
”learn how to tone and strengthen muscle"
Resistance training is important for building strength, muscle and overall body tone. It can incorporate machine weights, free weights, free body weight, kettle bells, stretch bands and swiss ball. All of these modes of resistance training offer unique workouts to enhance the mass, strength or endurance ability of working muscle. This seminar will discuss different modes of resistance training, show you how to use loads of different equipment and show you the importance of correct technique. Also discussed will be nutritional strategies for resistance training such as when you should eat and the importance of food to assist muscle recovery
