This beginners' course provides an introduction to the sport of surfing, through some theory and developing practical skills.
It will cover the history of surfing, different boards and wetsuits, terminology, weather & surf conditions, and safety standards. Practical skills include tying boards onto racks, reading the surf conditions, gearing up, parts of the board, trimming and body position, group and personal safety, wiping out, paddling technique, catching waves and standing up.
If there is any doubt about the weather conditions on either day, you will be contacted by the tutor by 8.30am, however assume that unless you hear from us it will go ahead as planned. Please ensure we have contact details where we can reach you.
If in the event of bad weather a session is postponed, we aim to arrange a catch-up session to suit the group.
