Dr Paul Tankard

Paul Tankard came to Otago from Melbourne, Australia, in 2003, after having completed an MA and Ph.D at Monash University on the British writer, Samuel Johnson. Paul, a senior lecturer in the Department of English, teaches 2nd and 3rd-year papers in the Writing programme, and having a particular interest in non-fictional prose literature, he is preparing the first ever selection from the voluminous journalism of the 18th-century Scottish writer, James Boswell. He also teaches and writes in the area of Fantasy fiction, in particular the group of 20th-century British writers, called the Inklings, and their forerunner, the 19th-century Scottish writer, George MacDonald.
