NewStart
Overview
NewStart is a free introductory seminar, held on campus, tailored specifically for mature students who are considering enrolment at University of Otago for the first time, or returning after a long absence from tertiary study. The seminar covers a wide range of information and aims to give a better understanding of how the university 'works'. It is also an opportunity to ask any questions you may have.
The topics covered include the enrolment and course approval process, how semesters work, how to structure your degree, tutorials, student finance, loans and allowances and the facilities and services offered to students on campus eg Library, Careers Advisory Service, Disability Information & Support, Student Health, Student Learning Centre, OUSA, Māori Centre, Pacific Islands Centre etc.
Sandra Spence, Liaison Officer, presents the seminar and she is also available for individual course and general advice, by appointment.
