Diploma for Graduates (DipGrad)
The DipGrad is a flexible programme. It is a one year full time course (or part time over a longer period) which enables graduates in one discipline to start studying another discipline without doing the full requirements for a major.
This is often used by students wanting to advance to postgraduate study in a subject other than their original major, or as a way of adding disciplinary breadth to their initial degree. For example, someone with a BA in Anthropology who wanted to have a qualification in Sociology could do a Dip Grad year. The Dip Grad consists of 120 points at undergraduate level, of which 72 must be at or above 300-level.

Postgraduate studies in Sociology
Post Graduate Diploma in Arts subjects (PGDipArts) and 4th year Honours
The Postgraduate Diploma in Arts Subjects is a further degree for BA graduates in their major subject.
The course of study of the PGDipArts in Sociology is the same as that for the fourth year of the Honours degree.
Students must achieve a A- average in their 300-level Sociology papers in order to be admitted to the PGDipArts. This course may be taken full time for one year, or part time over a longer period.
Applying for 4th year Honours or Post Graduate Diploma
Application forms for admission are available from the Department office or the Student Information Centre. Applications close on 10 December. Late applications will be considered. Please address your application to:

Students intending to apply for admission to either the BA(Hons) at fourth year or Post Graduate Diploma are normally expected to have achieved a final grade of A- or better in their 300-level Sociology papers.

Advanced Postgraduate Degrees
The programme offers the Master of Arts (MA) in Sociology.
