This course will guide the development of critical analytical skills on the areas of social theories and methodologies examined on the course, and the nature and causes of social inequality and poverty.  Students will learn how to critically assess differing explanations of problems and their practical implications for change, and also how to develop communication ability within the context of social services provision.  One of the key learning elements will be around the ability to analyse the basis and effectiveness of current practice models, and develop skills of critical reflection on one's own professional practice.
