Department on the move
The department is being relocated to Leith Walk and Leith Street. Departmental staff from Castle Street and the Richardson Building are moving during the week beginning 12 December into their new offices at 282 Leith Walk and 262 Leith Street. Telephone numbers will remain the same. There will be some disruption to services during the relocation but we ask for your patience during this time.

Department changes
In January 2011 the department of Sociology, Gender and Social Work merged with Sociology and Gender Studies to become the Department of Sociology, Gender and Social Work. This is an exciting opportunity to develop research collaboration between these three remarkable programmes. Professor Hugh Campbell was appointed to head the new department.

NGO Study Awards - applications for 2011 are now open
Applications for an NGO social work study award commencing 2011 are invited from workers employed in a Non-Government Organistaion (NGO).

Each year this programme has an intake of 65 - 85 students, with a total of 420 awards having been made over the 5 years of these awards. A total of 148 social workers have so far been supported through to achieving their qualification, with a further 46 students expected to qualify during 2010. During 2010 Family and Community Services (FACS) supported a total of 199 students towards obtaining a recognised social work qualification.
