Enrolment at the University of Otago for 2012

We are committed to maintaining both our very high academic standards and the quality of the services we provide to students. In order to achieve this it is necessary for us to manage the number of undergraduate enrolments accepted.

Caps on the numbers of students in a range of undergraduate programmes have been introduced with selection primarily based on academic merit. The selection process also includes an enhanced system for Māori and Pacific applicants.

There are two pathways for admission to these programmes for new domestic undergraduate students (and certain students who have enrolled at Otago previously) :

Overview

Registration, the first step of enrolment, lets us know you intend to study at the University and gives us information for the next two steps (payment of fees and course approval). We handle a huge number of registrations so it is important that you meet the deadlines listed below.

To obtain a registration pack or other enrolment material, please complete a Registration Material Request Form. Alternatively, contact the University Information Centre or your school's Careers Adviser.

How to Register

Online Registration

Online Registration allows you to complete the registration step of enrolment online, update any information previously entered, and track the progress of your registration.

Note: If you have completed course approval, you cannot use Online Registration to change your papers, but must complete a Change of Course Form instead.

Telephone registration for 2012 study opens 1 August 2011.

In Person

Visit the University Information Centre, where you will receive personal assistance with submitting your registration. The Centre is open from 8.30am to 5.00pm, Monday to Friday, but will be closed from 23 December 2011 to 3 January 2012 (inclusive).

Notes:
(i) Online Registration is not available to first year PhD students.
(ii) All postgraduate, Honours, and a number of other undergraduate programmes (especially in the Health Sciences) either have limited entry or require special approval for admission and usually require an application form in addition to normal registration.
