Transferring from another New Zealand university
If you have previously studied at another New Zealand university your method of admission will normally transfer from that university.
Evidence you are required to provide
You will be required to provide a copy of your official academic transcript from your previous university.
Preferential Entry requirement for study undertaken at another New Zealand university
The requirement for Preferential Entry for the applicable undergraduate programmes is a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 4 (B-) or more from the most recent equivalent two years of full-time study.

If you would like to apply to transfer credit from your previous university towards your study at the University of Otago, you can do so via eVision once your admission has been approved. Go to 'Details' in eVision and apply via the 'Education Details' section.
Admission at graduate level
(Admission ad eundem statum at graduate level)
If you have completed a degree (or equivalent qualification) at an overseas institution or at a non-university tertiary institution in New Zealand, you may apply for admission ad eundem statum at graduate level.
Fee
A non-refundable administration fee of $93.00 will normally be charged for applications under admission ad eundem statum at graduate level.

Admission on the basis of tertiary-level passes
(Admission ad eundem statum on the basis of tertiary-level passes)
If you have university-level passes from an overseas institution or from a non-university institution in New Zealand, you may apply for admission ad eundem statum on the basis of that study. If your application is approved and you are offered a place in your chosen programme, you may subsequently apply for this study to be credited towards your study at Otago. You can do this by going to the 'Details' section of your eVision portal.

RPL credit
In certain cases it is possible for students to have prior non-credentialled learning (i.e. learning which has not been formally recognised with a qualification or other documented record) recognised for the purposes of admission to a course or programme.
The process of assessing and recording such learning is called Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL); any credit granted is termed RPL credit. Credit may be granted for MAOR 102, MAOR 108, MAOR 111,MAOR 112, or SURV 101.
Applications for RPL credit must normally be submitted by 30 November (for candidates intending to enrol in the first semester of the following year) or 30 May (for candidates intending to enrol for the second semester). Students are encouraged to consult the relevant School before applying for RPL credit.
Academic Progress Policy
The Academic Progress policy will be applied to applicants transferring from other universities as if their previous study had been undertaken at the University of Otago. Applicants suspended under the academic progress policies (or equivalent) of other universities will not be permitted to transfer to the University of Otago until such time as that suspension has passed.
